Jonathan M. Adelson, M.D., FACR

Dr. Adelson is the Medical Director of Arthritis and Pain Associates of P.G. County and the Osteoporosis Center of P.G. County. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both rheumatology and internal medicine. He is also an active Fellow Member of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR). He is also certified in Clinical Densitometry by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry.

Dr. Adelson graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan with his B.A. in Philosophy in 1972 and received his M.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1977. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in 1980 and his fellowship in rheumatology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1982.

He is an active member of the D.C. Rheumatism Society, the Lupus Foundation of Greater Washington, the Maryland Lupus Foundation, Prince George's County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.

He was rated as one of America’s Top Physicians by the Consumers’ Research Council of America for 2006 and 2007 in the specialty of rheumatology.

Donald E. Thomas, Jr., M.D., FACR

Dr. Thomas has been part of our practice since June 1998. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both rheumatology and internal medicine, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and an active Fellow Member of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR). He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and he actively teaches subjects in rheumatology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Thomas also actively serves as a member of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Board of the Lupus Foundation of Greater Washington. He is also certified in Clinical Densitometry by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry.

Dr. Thomas graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from George Military College in 1981 with an A.S. and then from the University of Houston in 1985 with his B.S. in Biology. In 1989, he received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in 1993 and his fellowship in rheumatology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1995, after which he stayed on as a member of the teaching staff until he joined Arthritis and Pain Associates. He is an active member of the D.C. Rheumatism Society, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Rheumatology, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Thomas's awards include the AMA's Physician Recognition Award from 2000 to 2006, and the AMA’s Physician Recognition Award with Commendation from 2007 to the present. He is rated as one of America’s Top Physicians by the Consumers’ Research Council of America from 2004 - 2007 in the specialty of rheumatology.

Yevgeniy Sheyn, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.R., CCD

Yevgeniy Sheyn, M.D., FACR

Dr. Sheyn has been in our practice since 2004.

Dr. Sheyn originally graduated from the Russian State Medical University in 1995, Magna Cum Laude, then a residency in the Department of Internal Medicine and Intensive care in Moscow, Russia from 1989 to 1995. He then graduated from another residency in internal medicine at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in NYC, NY; and most recently finished his fellowship in rheumatology from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill in 2004. He also received Master of Public Health in Epidemiology degree from UNC School of Public Health.

While he was at UNC, he actively participated in clinical research of rheumatologic diseases. He coauthored articles on treatment of Sjögren’s syndrome and steroid induced osteoporosis and co-wrote chapter on cardiac involvement in rheumatologic diseases in the renowned textbook of Netter's Cardiology.

In addition to the usual rheumatologic therapies, he also has an interest in natural therapies for rheumatic diseases, and provides for appropriate patients the use of inflammatory prolotherapy.

Dr. Sheyn is board certified in rheumatology, internal medicine, and clinical densitometry. He is a Fellow Member of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR), and an active member of the American Medical Association, Maryland State Medical Society, and International Society for Clinical Densitometry. He was rated as one of America’s Top Physicians by the Consumers' Research Council of America for 2007 in the specialty of rheumatology.

Maria Cuadra, PA-C
Physician Assistant

Maria Cuadra, PA-C Maria is a Physician Assistant with a special interest and training in rheumatology. She graduated with her PA degree from the Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, CA, in 2007. She has also received special training in pain management and primary care, as well. She grew up locally in to Adelphi, MD, and has a strong interest in giving back to the community. She strives continuously to give first rate care to her patients.

Toni Proctor, R.N.
Registered Nurse

Toni Proctor, R.N. Toni has been an important part of our practice since 1988. She received her R.N. degree from Prince George's County Community College in 1979. She also works at Prince George's Hospital and is certified in Medical/Surgical nursing.

Rosalie Thomas, R.N.
Registered Nurse

Rosalie Thomas, R.N. Rosalie has been an important part of our practice since 1997. She graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing (which is associated with the University of Pittsburgh) in Johnstown, PA. She now specializes in medical/surgical nursing and is also certified in telemetry. She has also worked at Prince George's Hospital for the past 32 years.

Maria "Ienne" Julienne P. San Juan, R.N., B.S.N.
Registered Nurse

Maria "Ienne" Julienne P. San Juan, R.N., B.S.N. Ienne is the newest addition to our nursing staff. However, she is not new to the office. Ienne has worked with us since 2001, first as a medical assistant while studying her Pre-nursing studies at the University of MD at College Park from 2000 - 2002. Then she went on to the University of MD at Baltimore, School of Nursing where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in May 2004. We are very happy she has decided to stay and work for us part time as a registered nurse. She has truly worked her way up through the ranks of our office, and is intimately knowledgeable in how to take care of our patients. She also currently works at the University of Maryland Medical Center as an Associate Partner at the Surgical Intermediate Care Unit as part of her current Critical Care Nurse Fellowship. She is an active member of the American Nurses' Association, and of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
